J. Daniel Gunther
J. Daniel Gunther is highly respected and revered by his students and peers alike. Considered one of the world’s few genuine authorities on the doctrines of Thelema, his lectures and presentations have been hailed as dynamic revelations of Thelemic doctrine, while his engaging question and answer sessions demonstrate his collegial approach and sincere commitment to student learning.
Daniel has been an Aspirant to the A∴A∴ for over forty years. In 2009, his first book, Initiation in the Aeon of the Child: The Inward Journey, brought to the public for the first time many of the teachings and instructions of the A∴A∴, and offered a new audience these transmitted doctrinal insights and revelations. These teachings were further elaborated in his second book The Angel and the Abyss: The Inward Journey, Books II & III. Daniel is a standing member on the Editorial Board of The Equinox. He has spoken at numerous O.T.O. bodies worldwide.
Frater Phanes has been the Frater Superior Representative in Italy since 2006 e.v. and has served as National Grand Master General of O.T.O. Gran Loggia d’Italia since 2014 e.v. He is an Aspirant to the Great Order. His essay “Gathered Into Their Fold” was published in the book Success Is Your Proof: One Hundred Years of O.T.O. in North America.
The Visions of the Pylons :
A Journey Into the Starry Abode (J.D. Gunther)
Over forty years ago, and over a period of just under a year and a half, Brother Gunther took on the role of Seer in an experiment that was recorded by his faithful Scribe, Brother Richard Gernon. The purpose of this experiment was to explore the Pylons of the Duant or “Starry Abode” referred to in Liber LXV and also in the classic Pyramid Texts. The results, and the Seer’s subsequent analysis thereof, have been recorded and are still awaiting publication. Brother Gunther will discuss this working, known as “The Visions of the Pylons,” its significance, both in the Seer’s own initiation, and how it may be of assistance to others on the path.
Art, Alchemy, Initiation and Healing:
Opus Alchymicum and the Occult Symbolism of Visual Art (J.D. Gunther)
Recently Brother Gunther’s Opus Alchymicum was published, after the initial drawings were made some thirty years ago and then almost lost in his attic. Once re-discovered, their significance as a healing tome, both for Brother Gunther, and for others who have viewed them has become well known. How does this relate to the experience of the artist in creating the Opus drawings, and how visual art in general relate to the alchemical and initiatory experience? Daniel will talk about the creation of Opus Alchymicum but will also discuss several other works of his own art, several of which will also be on exhibit during the event.
